Cookie Policy
What cookies and similar technologies we use on vangoremovals.co.uk, what each one does, and how to change your choices.
The short version
- Functional cookies keep the site and booking forms working, and are always on.
- Statistics and marketing cookies are set only if you accept them.
- You can change your choices at any time using Manage consent in the footer.
- Blocking all cookies will stop parts of the site working.
This summary is for convenience only. The full wording below is what applies.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let a site remember things between pages and visits — for example that you have set your cookie preferences, or that you arrived from a particular advert. Similar technologies such as pixels, tags and browser local storage do much the same job, and this policy covers those too.
Cookies set by vangoremovals.co.uk are first-party cookies. Cookies set by another company whose service we use are third-party cookies.
Your choices
When you first visit our site you will see a consent banner with four categories: functional, preferences, statistics and marketing. Functional cookies are always on because the site cannot work without them. Everything else is set only if you accept.
You can change your mind at any time using the Manage consent link at the bottom of any page. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and it will not stop you using the site or booking a move.
Functional cookies
These keep the site secure and working, and cannot be switched off.
- cmplz_banner-status, cmplz_consented_services, cmplz_saved_categories, cmplz_saved_services, cmplz_policy_id, cmplz_functional, cmplz_preferences, cmplz_statistics, cmplz_marketing — set by our consent management tool to record which categories you accepted, so we do not ask again on every page. Expire after 365 days.
- wordpress_test_cookie — used by WordPress to check that your browser accepts cookies. Session.
- wordpress_logged_in_, wp-settings- and wp-settings-time-, each followed by a site-specific reference — used only for site administrators, to keep them signed in and remember display preferences. Session to one year.
- Booking form session data — our booking system keeps your answers in browser storage while you move between steps, so your details are not lost part-way through. Cleared when the booking is submitted or the browser is closed.
Statistics cookies
These tell us how many people visit, which pages they read and where they give up, so we can improve the site. They are set only if you accept.
- _ga — Google Analytics. Distinguishes one visitor from another. Expires after two years.
- _ga_ followed by our Google Analytics measurement ID — Google Analytics 4. Keeps track of the current visit. Expires after two years.
Analytics reporting is aggregated. We use it to understand patterns across all visitors, not to identify you personally.
Marketing cookies
We advertise on Google. These cookies let us measure which adverts and keywords lead to real enquiries, so we are not paying for advertising that does not work. They are set only if you accept.
- _gcl_au — Google Ads conversion tracking. Records that you arrived from an advert and links that visit to an enquiry or booking. Expires after 90 days.
- IDE — set by Google on the doubleclick.net domain, used to measure advert performance and limit how often you see the same advert. Expires after 13 months.
- test_cookie — set by Google to check whether your browser supports cookies. Expires after 15 minutes.
Our tags are managed through Google Tag Manager, which does not itself store information about you but loads the tags listed above once you have given consent.
Third-party content
Some pages include content hosted elsewhere — our Google reviews widget, embedded maps and links to our social media profiles. Those providers may set their own cookies once the content loads, and their own policies apply. Where the content is not essential, we load it only after you have accepted.
Managing cookies in your browser
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. The help pages for Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge explain how. Blocking all cookies will stop parts of our site, including the quote and booking forms, from working properly.
Our site does not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, because there is no agreed standard for how sites should treat them. The choices you make in our consent banner are what we act on.
How this connects to your privacy
Where a cookie collects information that identifies you, we handle it as set out in our Privacy Policy, which also explains your rights and how to use them.
Changes to this policy
We review this policy whenever we add or remove a tool from the site, and the date it was last changed is shown below.
